Are We There Yet?

A collection of visual musings amid incoherent ramblings

Familiars in a Familiar Land

Posted by enlightenedimaging on June 3, 2007

I have firmly come to the conclusion that we are not Eureka Springs “locals.” Truly enough we are by geographical location, but we are way better as tourists. The thing is, we get too busy living life to enjoy the reasons we love Eureka. Good locals are artists and business owners and people who are invested in the town itself– we managed to find ourselves jobs as far away from Eureka as sanely possible. I love to wander around town and go to the parks and eat at Sparky’s and drink at Henry’s and shoot stick at Lucky 7 and never go to the Pied Piper and all of the other things that I love about Eureka. What I have seen is that we can’t get out of our own way to set aside the time that we need to do these things. Hence, we’re better tourists. We’re much better to set aside two days or a week or whatever ammount of time to do these things, instead of digging out the time from daily life. We’ve been able to go to town twice in the last two weeks and I have been as happy as I’ve been in quite a long while. At any rate– we were setting in Henry’s today and I was playing around and ended up getting some very interesting shots.

It has been great to hang out like old times with Kathryn and Robin– they kinda crack Laurie up a little.

Martini

It is the simple things in life that matter, I hear… such as trying to catch the drips from the cherry from Kathryn’s martini.

My Earth Shoe

At one point, all of the ladies had left me for the bar and I was left to entertain myself– and this is what I came up with. I was well and truly pleased with the lighting and results from this play shot.

I expect that soon there will be another signpost on my karmic highway– and happiness will follow, wherever the sign points.

If that doesn’t inspire you to come to Eureka Springs for a little karaoke madness, I don’t know what will. Thanks for all the support and photos you have shared with me over the years. Grab Laurie and meet me at Henri’s so I can buy you a beer!
